When it's saved on Box, your critical data is always secure and accessible, miles away from threats to your computer. Security is of critical importance to Box, and we have taken comprehensive steps to ensure that your files are as secure as possible on our Enterprise-grade servers.
Network Security
To protect your data, we provide optional 256-bit Secured Socket Layer (SSL) security to encrypt the data between the end user and Box. Files are kept private by default, and cannot be indexed by search engines or otherwise found on the web. All file names are encoded once they arrive on our servers.
Data Security with Box
At Box, data is stored in multiple, geographically separated facilities on secure internal storage clusters behind an Enterprise-grade firewall. On the software side, every request is first passed through carefully programmed and audited verification code which ensures that the user is authorized for the action requested. To ensure your data is always safe and accessible, we also back up all data to an additional facility.
